Shea Stadium in Flushing Meadows, Queens was home to the baseball team the NY Mets from 1964-2008. It was also used by the football team the NY Jets until 1983 when they got their own stadium. It was named after William Alfred "Bill" Shea (1907 — 1991), a lawyer who is credited with bringing National League baseball back to NYC after the departure of the Brooklyn Dodgers (now the LA Dodgers) and the NY Giants (now the San Francisco Giants) in 1957.See Also: Shay, Che, Shea
